# Production Service
**Denmark’s 25% production rebate – with a local partner who knows the landscape.**
Nimbus Film helps international fiction producers assess, plan and deliver productions in Denmark. If your project may qualify for Denmark’s production rebate, we can help you understand the requirements, prepare the Danish part of the production, and navigate the process with the relevant authorities and partners.
We keep the first conversation simple: send us the key facts, and we will tell you whether there appears to be a realistic path forward.
If an initial review suggests real potential, we would like to set up an online meeting with one of our producers as soon as possible for a concrete, non-binding conversation about your project and its Danish possibilities.

## Denmark’s Production Rebate
Denmark offers a cash rebate of up to 25% on eligible production costs incurred in Denmark. Nimbus Film’s production service work focuses on live action fiction: feature films and fiction series. The scheme is administered by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces, with two annual application rounds, typically around April and September.
The Live Action Scheme has an annual pool of DKK 100 million. The maximum rebate per production is DKK 20 million. This page focuses on live action fiction projects.
Denmark’s scheme is competition-based. Applications are ranked according to eligible costs in Denmark, total production budget, and a production and culture test. In other words, it is not only a question of qualifying. A strong application needs to be realistic, well documented and competitive.
## Could Your Project Be Eligible?
As a first step, we look at the basic requirements:
– Applicants must be independent lead producers, co-producers or production service companies.
– Feature films: minimum total budget of DKK 25 million and minimum eligible Danish costs of DKK 3 million.
– Fiction series: minimum budget requirements per minute and per season, and minimum eligible Danish costs of DKK 3 million.
– At least 60% of total financing must be confirmed at application stage.
– At least 25% of the total budget must come from foreign financing sources.
– The lead producer must have at least one previous production with broad distribution.
Commercials, news, reality, entertainment programmes and sports coverage are not eligible. Costs incurred before application cannot normally be included.
The recipient of the rebate must have a Danish business presence, or equivalent, at the time of payout. We can help international producers understand the practical local setup.
The official rules and deadlines are published by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces. We recommend checking the current application round before planning your Danish schedule.
## How Nimbus Film Can Help
Nimbus Film has produced and co-produced award-winning Danish films and TV series since 1993, including *Festen* and the TV series *The Bridge* (*Broen*). Studio TF1 became our strategic partner in 2019.
Based in central Copenhagen, we are closely connected to Denmark’s production landscape. Through our own productions, we have built an extensive network of leading talent, crew, facilities and locations across Denmark.
For international fiction productions looking at Denmark, we can assist with:
– **Initial assessment:** whether the project appears eligible and realistic for the Danish scheme.
– **Competitiveness:** how the project may rank, and where the Danish plan can be strengthened.
– **Application strategy:** how to prepare the project and application material to secure the strongest possible chance within the scheme.
– **Production planning:** locations, crew, suppliers, facilities, contracting and local logistics.
– **Local execution:** practical production support in Denmark, from preparation through shoot and reporting.
– **Compliance and reporting:** auditor coordination, state aid considerations and final reporting.
Where relevant, we can also discuss whether other Danish financing routes may be worth exploring, subject to artistic fit, timing and state aid rules.
## What To Send Us
To give you a useful first response, please send:
– A short project description: logline, synopsis, format, genre, status and planned Danish elements.
– A budget top-sheet showing total budget and estimated eligible Danish spend.
– A short overview of confirmed financing and foreign financing sources.
– Your planned timeline for the Danish part of the production.
– A brief track record for the lead producer.
This is not red tape. It is the minimum information we need to give you an honest answer without wasting your time.
If we move forward together, the official application will also require the Danish authority’s budget and financing templates, a production and culture test, and a state aid declaration.
## The Process
### 1. You send, we read
Send the key materials by email. We do a first check against the scheme’s basic requirements.
### 2. We assess
If the project appears relevant, we assess eligibility, timing, likely competitiveness and any obvious red flags.
### 3. We talk
If there is a realistic path forward, we set up an online meeting with one of our producers to discuss the Danish production plan, your timeline and the terms of working together.
### 4. We assist with the application process
If we decide to move forward together, Nimbus can help structure the application, coordinate the required material and advise on how to present the Danish elements in a clear and competitive way.
### 5. We assist with local production planning and execution
Nimbus can help plan and execute the Danish part of the production, including locations, crew, suppliers, facilities, contracting, local logistics and the documentation needed for reporting.
Initial eligibility screening is available without charge when the required minimum information has been submitted. Substantial advisory, application or production work is undertaken on agreed terms.
