MESTEREN (Danish title) gone into production
Charlotte Sieling directs new Danish movie: Mesteren (Danish title)
The future Nimbus Film production Mesteren (Danish title) went into production on Monday the 14th of December. Mesteren (Danish title) revolves around conflicts between a father and son, set in an international art environment in Copenhagen – here we meet father and son, played by Søren Malling and Jakob Oftebro. Sus Wilkins, Søren Pilmark and Norwegian Ane Dahl Torp are also part of the cast.
Charlotte Sieling is the director and screenwriter of the coming Danish drama. Sieling had her feature film debut in 2009 with “Above the Street, Below the Water”, before which she worked behind the camera of Danish TV series like “Krøniken” and as the conceptualizing director on “The Bridge (Bron/Broen)”. After her great success she moved to the United States where she directed series like “Homeland”, “White Collar”, “The Americans” and the coming “Queen of the South”. For now she is back on Danish ground.
“Malling and Oftebro has a crazy energy that sparkles on camera. They play two artists, father and son, who has just met each other for the first time. The father is on top of his career; the son is the next big star in the art world. Their relationship evolves into an agonizing, existential and artistic duel, when the father has no plans of parenthood and the son no plans of just getting to know his father,” Charlotte Sieling reveals about her upcoming film.
Producer and lead continues teamwork.
Mesteren (Danish title) is produced by Lars Brado Rahbek for Nimbus Film. Rahbek has recently produced the upcoming Tordenskjold og Kold, which also stars Jakob Oftebro in the leading role. Both look forward to the next project together after a very successful collaboration on previous films. The movie has been assigned 8 million DKK in production support from The Danish Film Institute.
The movie is distributed by SF Film and is expected to premiere primo 2017, about a year after Tordenskjold & Kold.
